Welcome to the Mistress Ski Race Team
We recorded a time of 7.06min the Bakers Blitz which on reflection was a little disappointing as the boys skied a flawless Blitz . I over drove the boat in several corners giving us a slow exit speed.
Right hand corners were fairly tough but with Leo Nankervis tuning the prop and an adjustment to the steering stops produced a much better beast to drive. We changed gearboxes overnight just for some insurance on reliability.
Race day Sunday we started well with the boys skiing strongly , three and a half minutes in I high sided the boat on a fast left hander giving the boys a heap of slack which we all did well to recover from, this lost us over 25 seconds of high speed travel. We got going again with a little more respect being shown in the left handers. It was super strong in straight line and on the right handers after our overnight adjustments. Top speed for the run was 185 kph. The boys got a little weary 20 plus minutes in but dug deep to keep up momentum .
Coming into Braund rd bend Zac got a little loose on the wash and lost his wrap ,we lost another 25 sec here to get back on track.
Initially when we finished I was a little disappointed with our run but on reflection and taking into account the events of our run 33 minutes is a very respectable time.
We as a team will improve and realise the level we need to get to achieve ultimate success.
We at the Mistress ski race team were all deeply saddened at the death of a long time skirace mate and member of the ski race family as a whole - Tim Driver . In the early days Tim was an absolute demon on a social ski and was very rarely headed. To Bakes, Danny, Rick and that whole sensational crew of blokes we feel for you.
The Entire committee of the MWSC needs to be congratulated with the way they ran this magnificent event , It is truly the Melbourne cup of water ski racing in Aus and is run in a most professional manner by a group of loyal volunteers .
We will now prepare for the Robinvale Ski race in 3 weeks time see you all there .
